OVW announces benefit show for Tough Enough winner Matt Cappotelli’s cancer fight

Rip Rogers on Twitter

Earlier this Summer, WWE Tough Enough winner Matt Cappotelli got the news all cancer survivors fear. Ten years after surgery, radiation and chemotherapy led to his brain cancer being diagnosed as in remission, doctors found the tumor was back - and in a more aggressive form, a grade IV GlioBlastoma Multiforme (GBM).

Cappotelli only made a handful of main roster appearances, but he was a staple of Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) for several years, both during and after Danny Davis’ promotion’s time as WWE’s developmental territory. So it makes sense OVW is hosting a show to benefit Matt on Sat., Sept. 23 at their home base of Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky.

Proceeds from the show, which starts at 7:30PM, will go to helping Capotelli’s family cover the mounting medical bills which are coming from his latest rounds of treatment. You’ll be able to find out more about the card and buy $15 tickets at OVW’s website here. Thus far, Jim Cornette has confirmed he’ll be in attendance and signing autographs and posing for pictures in exchange for donations.

There’s also a gofundme where you can donate and get updates on Matt’s battle here.

On behalf of everyone at Cageside Seats, best wishes to Capotelli and his friends and family.
