Everybody who comes to Cageside Seats has an opinion about what's going on in pro wrestling - The Smark's Shoot Standings (S3) are where YOU let us know YOURS.
Cast a vote in the comments. Give us the four performers you think entertained or impressed the most in the last week, and feel free to talk about why. And/or vote for your top performer in our poll.
We also have the outcome of last week's voting, the results of which make up our annual competition for Performer of the Year.
Remember, the Standings are for the previous week's nationally televised and internet streaming pro wrestling shows - the July 31 episode of Monday Night Raw, Tuesday's SmackDown & 205 Live, NXT, Lucha Underground from Wednesday, Thursday's Impact Wrestling, ROH TV #306, New Japan’s G1 Climax shows and any other internet streaming wrestling that aired from July 30 - Aug. 5, 2017.
Make YOUR mark, smarks!
So, Sasha... you didn’t win that #1 contender match, but you did win The S3... that’s gotta be a nice consolation prize, righ...
Forget I asked.
- Not to discount The Boss’ week - it was a nice match that clearly didn’t end he role in the Raw Women’s title story (or her program with the wrestler who beat her and finished second) - but there were a whopping 54 different performers who received votes in the last Standings, and Banks’ fans who will fill their ballot with her name as long as she’s on television definitely made the difference.
- The depth of talent who earned points also led to some interesting representation for certain feuds and programs. For instance, two-thirds of the guys in the United States title story charted, but not the dude who won the belt on pay-per-view (PPV) but wasn’t pinned to lose it two nights later.
- Likewise, one guy each from the two teams feuding for the SmackDown tag team championship placed, along with half of Monday night’s bromance, one of the slabs of beef in Raw’s main event and the guy who made what was essentially a cameo in the WWE title feud.
- And a Golden☆Lover.
