Minoru Suzuki to face Cody for the ROH World Championship in his first US match in 25 years

Ring of Honor announced the main event for Death Before Dishonor XV on their television show this week (which, as a reminder, you can watch free on their website) and boy, it is a new one.

Cody Rhodes issued an open challenge for a title match on that show and was answered by way of a video package, getting the shock of a lifetime— NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki is coming to Las Vegas to take the Ring of Honor World Championship from him.

This will be the Suzuki-gun maestro’s first match on US soil in over twenty-five years, seeing as he last came to the States to wrestle way back in March of 1992 for a Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi show, where he lost a hard-fought twenty minute contest to Ken Shamrock.

Now, Cody is no Ken Shamrock-style shootfighting badass, but Minoru is also twenty-five years older, and the match should, at worst, be an interesting clash of styles.

No further details on the card or roster for Death Before Dishonor XV have been announced as yet, but you’ll be able to tune in on pay-per-view and iPPV on September 22nd at 6PM Pacific to see if the grandson of a plumber can overcome the man said to have the worst personality in the world.

There you have it, folks
