There remains very little confirmed information regarding Ric Flair, who was hospitalized over the weekend, and whom his manager asked fans to pray for this morning.
While there is a great deal of speculation and unsourced reportage going on regarding his condition, especially on social media, the 68 year old Flair has discussed his own heart issues, which were said to be the reason he was admitted to the ICU on Saturday, Aug. 12. In his 2004 autobiography To Be The Man, Flair wrote of being diagnosed with alcoholic cardiomyopathy, a thinning and weakening of the heart muscle caused by excessive alcohol intake which can cause heart failure.
WWE.com published a story on his hospitalization a short time ago. It doesn’t shed any new light on the situation, but does make the situation concerning their Hall of Famer - and the father of SmackDown Superstar Charlotte Flair - feel a little more real. You can read that here.
Similarly, tweets are starting to come from around the business sending well-wishes to the Nature Boy. This includes one from WWE producer Michael Hayes who says he visited with Ric over the weekend and seems to confirm the messaging from the head of Flair’s talent agency:
Thoughts, prayers, and positive thoughts up for @RicFlairNatrBoy. Time to kick-out and make another comeback my friend.
