Welcome to the weekly Rumor Look Back, where we look at the rumors from six months ago and see which played out as originally predicted. Let’s get right to it.
- Although Seth Rollins will be missing time with a knee injury, it looks possible WWE will keep his presence steady on television while he's rehabbing, starting with tonight's update on his condition.
- He took a little time off prior to returning. (0/1)
- WWE has yet to decide on who Triple H's opponent for WrestleMania 33 will be but it won't be Batista.
- Was that a possibility discussed prior? (1/1)
- Tamina Snuka may be making her return as a member of the SmackDown Live women's division.
- She’s a SmackDown roster member. She didn’t return until after the Shake-Up. (1/1)
- Hideo Itami is ready to return and should be making his way back to NXT television soon.
- Hideo returned after WrestleMania in April. He’s got a match with Aleister Black at TakeOver next week. (1/1)
- Lei'D Tapa had a tryout with WWE recently and the company is said to be interested in bringing her on.
- She did have a loss against Ember Moon recently. But she’s not currently signed to them. (0/1)
- Expect Hulk Hogan’s return to WWE “sooner rather than later” according to Dave Meltzer.
- Six months later and we’re still not there yet. (0/1)
- In addition to Roman Reigns entering the Royal Rumble at 30 to set up a program with Undertaker at WrestleMania, there’s talk it was also done to ensure a big positive reaction for eventual winner Randy Orton.
- It worked.
- Though it’s not clear why, Meltzer also said on Twitter that SmackDown abandoned the Renee Young & Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz & Maryse angle.
- That was the case. It was a shame because Miz vs. Renee is a great verbal feud. But I can’t complain about the replacement match for the Miz and Maryse given the build for their feud was Cena and Nikki Bella was so good. (1/1)
- WWE is planning to debut Emmalina next Monday, but that could change, as they intended to have her appear as announced on Dec. 12 but then changed plans.
- This rumor is finally correct! (1/1)
- As of now, Goldberg is indeed penciled in to win the Universal title from Kevin Owens in the main event of Fastlane.
- Yes, that’s what happened. It was quick. Kevin killed time by rolling out of the ring, was distracted by a returning Chris Jericho, and then spear, jackhammer, 1-2-3. (1/1)
- Speaking of which, that will be where Owens and Chris Jericho finally break up as best friends and lead to their planned match at WrestleMania 33.
- They broke up the next Raw at the Festival of Friendship. It was one of the best Raw segments in years. (0/1)
- Mick Foley isn't expected to last past WrestleMania as Raw General Manager.
- He was gone prior to that. (1/1)
- Scott D'Amore was recently rehired by TNA.
- This is true. (1/1)
- In his interview with Busted Open Radio, Alberto Del Rio says Paige will be back in the ring by April or May.
- Alberto wrong? Shocking! (0/1)
- Goldberg will likely carry the Universal title into WrestleMania because Vince McMahon wants his match with Brock Lesnar to be the biggest thing on that card. It is almost a lock to go on last in Orlando.
- Undertaker’s retirement match ended up going on last. (0/1)
- The idea behind Samoa Joe’s suit in the opening segment this past Monday was to have him look like a hitman, according to the Observer.
- A well spoken assassin.
- Tony Nese suffered an ankle injury during the six-man cruiserweight tag match on Raw, but he’s not expected to miss a significant amount of time.
- Looking at his match listing on Cagematch, he missed little to no time. (1/1)
- There is apparently some real talk of Paige going into MMA and, according to the Observer, the idea would be for her to fight on Combate Americas first pay-per-view if she can get released by WWE.
- She hasn’t been let out of her contract so we can’t say what would have happened if she had been. She’s looking to come back to the WWE soon.
- Nikki Bella is expected to continue working with WWE even after her in-ring career is finished up.
- Hopefully, her in-ring career isn’t up yet and I sit on this rumor for awhile.
- Kane has apparently been out of action lately because he's dealing with some nagging injuries, according to the Observer.
- Perhaps that was the reason then. Now he’s running for mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.
- It's likely the Raw tag team title match at Fastlane will feature multiple teams.
- It was just the Club vs. Enzo & Cass. (0/1)
- Jeff Jarrett is now back in charge at TNA, having brought in all his guys to run creative, and Dixie Carter is completely out.
- Yup. (1/1)
- Apparently WWE has made some minor changes to the Elimination Chamber structure, so it could look different at the show tomorrow night.
- It had a different look. (1/1)
- There have been rumors going around of Eva Marie leaving WWE but she's still under contract and it doesn't look like she's going anywhere, at least not right now.
- She’s already gone. Geno is sad. (0/1)
- Kassius Ohno could be in the title match at the NXT TakeOver: Orlando show set for WrestleMania weekend.
- The title match was Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode. Ohno was a last minute addition to a 6 person tag against SAnitY. (0/1)
- NXT will be doing a taping at Full Sail on April 5, extending WrestleMania week by another day.
- They did. (1/1)
- Kevin Kelly is still going to be working with Ring of Honor going forward, just not in a full time position.
- Last I saw he’ll even call some matches here and there, but he’s not the full time announcer. (1/1)
