Rhea Ripley and Sage Beckett added to Mae Young Classic tournament field

WWE announced two more names for the Mae Young Classic today, and they’re familiar to anyone who’s been following along with the year in signings and name changes, Rhea Ripley and Sage Beckett.

Rhea Ripley, better known (for just a little while longer) as Demi Bennett, represents Australia as a four-year veteran at the tender age of 20. A two-time Riot City Wrestling Women’s Champion, she’s toured Japan and wrestled such luminaries as Saraya Knight, Kyoko Kimura, Mercedes Martinez, and the Mae Young Classic’s own Dakota Kai.

Sage Beckett (recently changed away from Miller), meanwhile, trained with the Dudley Boys and started her career with a fairly disastrous TNA run as Rosie Lotta Love. She retired in 2012 citing injury, but came back to wrestling in 2014 as Andrea, slimmed down by over a hundred pounds and tightened up in the ring, leaving a distinct impression on the indies, especially the WWN family of promotions.

This brings our (publicly announced, non-spoiler) field to fifteen competitors, and if you’d like a convenient refresher, here they are listed out—

  • Abbey Laith
  • Bianca BelAir
  • Dakota Kai
  • Jazzy Gabert
  • Kairi Sane
  • Kavita Devi
  • Lacey Evans
  • Piper Niven
  • Princesa Sugehit
  • Rhea Ripley
  • Sage Beckett
  • Sarah Logan
  • Taynara Conti
  • Tessa Blanchard
  • Toni Storm

There you have it, folks

Fifteen down, seventeen to go, and we’re running out of wrestlers who have already reported to the Performance Center, so things should only heat up from here. Excited, Cagesiders?
