Global Force Wrestling suspends Alberto El Patron

Following the news of the past two days concerning Alberto El Patron and the investigation into his involvement in a possible “domestic violence incident” at Orlando International Airport on Sunday, July 9, Global Force Wrestling (GFW) announced they are suspending their champion indefinitely.

Here is the brief statement posted on their website:

Global Force Wrestling has indefinitely suspended Alberto El Patron, effective immediately, until the investigation is resolved following a recent incident in Orlando, Florida.

El Patron won GFW’s Global championship earlier this year as the promotion began merging with the former TNA on Impact Wrestling, and recently defeated Bobby Lashley to unify the two company’s titles at their July 2 Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV). Impact also taped several weeks worth of shows following the PPV, so despite the suspension, Alberto is set to be a focus of their programming until mid-August.

Impact’s head of creative, Jeff Jarrett, is holding a media teleconference at 1PM Eastern today and will likely be asked about the suspension and the company’s plans regarding the controversy surrounding their champion.
