Everybody who comes to Cageside Seats has an opinion about what's going on in pro wrestling - The Smark's Shoot Standings (S3) are where YOU let us know YOURS.
Cast a vote in the comments. Give us the four performers you think entertained or impressed the most in the last week, and feel free to talk about why. And/or vote for your top performer in our poll.
We also have the outcome of last week's voting, the results of which make up our annual competition for Performer of the Year.
Remember, the Standings are for the previous week's nationally televised and internet streaming pro wrestling shows - WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV), the June 5 episode of Monday Night Raw, Tuesday's SmackDown & 205 Live, NXT, Lucha Underground & ROH TV from Wednesday, Thursday's Impact Wrestling and any other internet streaming wrestling that aired from June 4 - 10, 2017.
Make YOUR mark, smarks!
We salute you as well, sir.
Voting for the week which ended on June 3 featured support for an amazing 55 different performers. My hunch is that’s a record, but I didn’t get a chance to go back and check to be sure.
That made for a wide range of representation... from The Guy in WWE to the BoSJ finalists, the most decorated wrestler in the Women’s Revolution to Progress first Women’s champ, NXT’s injured psychopath to a couple of guys who went All Night Long and then some in Dario Cueto’s Temple.
Not to take anything away from the Deputy or any of the folks who earned a spot in the top ten, but it also resulted in probably our lowest point totals for folks in the S3 since the early days of our little exercise, when Rex, Rev, Rancho and a handful of others would participate and almost everyone they voted for made the cut.
So, while on the one hand ‘Dango won with only 1.5 first place votes and 33 total points, on the other - there is A LOT of great wrestling out there, and something for everybody if you just look.
It’s a great time to be a fan... regardless of what, if anything, you call yourself.
