Welcome to the weekly Rumor Look Back, where we look at the rumors from six months ago and see which played out as originally predicted. Let’s get right to it.
- Undertaker's appearance on SmackDown Live is expected to be in regards to what he'll be doing at WrestleMania 33.
- Not at all. He talked about digging holes for souls and something something. They didn’t set up the Roman match until the Rumble. (0/1)
- There are reports going around that Linda McMahon is talking to Donald Trump about a position in his administration.
- She is head of the Small Business Administration. That led to this sweet picture. (1/1)
- WWE will be going to Spain in 2017 on two separate tours.
- They were already there as part of their recent European tour and they plan to go when they go back in the fall. (1/1)
- PW Insider notes Tony Nese and Drew Gulak have gotten contracts from WWE.
- They are both part of the Cruiserweight Division. (2/2)
- The Rock joked about appearing at WrestleMania 33 in a recent interview, but he is expected to appear in Orlando. Expect another freewheeling segment and not a feud or pre-promoted match, however.
- He wasn’t there at all. Honestly, I didn’t miss him. This show did fine without a 30 minute Rock segment. (0/1)
- Undertaker is not expected to get physical on SmackDown tonight, although he may "clear the ring" of some undercard workers.
- He did not get physical. There was no “clearing the ring” however. (1/2)
- There are no current plans to break up New Day, or have them drop Raw’s tag belts.
- They are still together. They dropped the titles about a month after this rumor to Sheamus and Cesaro. (1/2)
- Linda McMahon may only be up for an appointment within the Commerce Department, but not the Secretary position.
- She does not have a “Secretary” title. (1/1)
- The plan for Survivor Series is apparently for Brock Lesnar to beat Goldberg but for Goldberg to get a big send off.
- Goldberg squashed Lesnar. (0/1)
- The early word is Survivor Series will likely see Team SmackDown lose and the guy who costs the team could be Undertaker's first program back for a big match at Royal Rumble.
- Team SmackDown won. Undertaker showed up months later “tied to no brand.” (0/1)
- The speculation is The Miz won the Intercontinental title back so Sami Zayn could take it off him instead of Ziggler.
- Sami Zayn has never held the title. (0/1)
- TNA is currently filming Total Nonstop Deletion and will be throughout the week. It is apparently their most ambitious effort yet.
- It was quite crazy.
- It’s believed Undertaker’s first SmackDown feud after Survivor Series will be with Randy Orton, although AJ Styles is also a possibility.
- He’s next (and last) feud was against Roman. (0/1)
- Sin Cara’s punishment for the bus incident with Chris Jericho in the U.K. included not being allowed to dress in the wrestlers’ locker room at Raw in Buffalo. He dressed with “extras”.
- Damn.
- Tajiri has been added to the upcoming NXT tour of Japan, but it still doesn’t look like he’s signing with WWE, as had been reported during the Cruiserweight Classic.
- He did sign long enough to be on a couple episodes of 205 Live. Then he sustained a knee injury and it looks like he won’t be returning. (0/1)
- At this point, Linda McMahon appears to be a longshot for President-Elect Donald Trump’s cabinet.
- According to the White House website, her position is technically a cabinet position. (0/1)
- It's still expected that WrestleMania 33 will be Undertaker’s retirement match.
- Looks that way. (1/1)
- Chris Jericho isn't currently scheduled to work WrestleMania 33 next year but if he continues to have a good run on television he could be booked for a top match.
- Tough call on the grading point. Was his match vs. KO (which went on second) a “top match?” According to the man itself, that was supposed to be a Universal title match.
- Filming for Lucha Underground season four is likely to happen early next year, possibly in February.
- It hasn’t happened yet. There was rumor it may not happen at all. (0/1)
- If WWE can get Conor McGregor for WrestleMania 33 next year, it's likely he would do something with The Rock.
- They didn’t get him so he didn’t pow-wow with the Rock, who wouldn’t have been able to make it anyway due to filming.
- Randy Orton is likely taking some time off after Survivor Series, even if it's only a week or so, for the birth of latest child.
- Orton did miss the next show. (1/1)
- Joey Styles could end up going to TNA by early next year.
- Early this year has come and gone and no Joey Styles. (0/1)
- Tony Nese will still work some independent dates through the end of the year but will be exclusive to WWE in 2017.
- Looks like that’s how it went for the Premiere Athlete. (1/1)
This Week: 10/22 - 45%
Overall: 1,497/2,773 - 54.0%
Have a great week, folks!
