Next week’s episode of NXT is looking to be rather stacked. We already had #DIY scheduled to rematch the Authors of Pain for the tag team titles. And tonight, Peyton Royce earned the right to face Asuka for the Women’s title on that episode as well.
Tonight’s (Feb. 22) episode kicked off with a triple threat between the Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Peyton Royce. The winner earned next week’s title shot.
Royce spent most of the match trying to keep Ember Moon neutralized outside, but that was only going to last so long. Eventually, the undefeated Moon looked poised to hit her eclipse finisher on the Aussie. However, where Peyton is, Billie Kay isn’t far behind. Kay got in the ring and ended up getting eclipsed, sparing her friend. Liv used the moment to shove Ember out of the ring.
However, it was Peyton who would capitalize. Royce delivered a fantastic looking Northern Lights Suplex for the 1-2-3.

It’s going to be no easy task for Royce to take that title from Asuka, the longest reigning NXT Women’s champion. She and Billie couldn’t get it done at TakeOver: San Antonio when it was basically a two on one handicapped match at the end. But with Kay on the outside to interfere as much as she can get away with, it’s not impossible.
Given that #DIY matches are must see viewing, next week’s NXT is looking to be a good one.
