Ring of Honor and WWE are engaging in some promotional warfare with both hosting shows in different venues on Nov. 17 in the same city. When WWE hits San Antonio, Texas, they’re bringing an NXT title match pitting Drew McIntyre against Adam Cole, with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee, as well as Trent Seven & Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne & Mark Andrews.
The latter was just announced tonight. So it’s no surprise, then, that ROH has returned fire with a big announcement of its own:
— Stephen Amell (@StephenAmell) November 7, 2017
Amell, of course, has history with current ROH Champion Cody Rhodes, having worked a tag team match against him at SummerSlam with the promise to continue their feud later. They were once penciled in for another match in WWE but it never came to fruition and, in fact, partially led to Cody doing away with the Stardust character and leaving the company.
Perhaps we’ll finally be getting that rematch. Or Amell will be there for another reason. You’ll have to show up to find out, which ROH is hoping you’ll want more than what NXT is offering that night.
