NXT and Ring of Honor (ROH) both have house shows in San Antonio on Friday, November 17.
You wouldn’t think two of the most popular brands in pro wrestling would have to go to war to sellout a couple of 1000 - 2000 seat venues in a city of roughly 1.5 million people, but as the ROH World champ Cody Rhodes pointed out during The Bullet Club’s invasion of a WWE Raw show last month, live wrestling isn’t necessarily the hottest ticket going these days.
So WWE loaded their event up by announcing a title match with Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels as special guest referee. ROH and Bullet Club initially just fired back with more jokes about “papering shows” and by calling out the McMahon family, but Cody promised two surprises for their show at the Austin Highway Event Center on the 17th, and it is pretty much biggest name they could call on... IWGP United States champion Kenny Omega.

Now, in addition to the main gimmick of the show - night one of their Survival of the Fittest tournament, the winner of which gets a future shot at their World title - ROH is promising Rhodes and the rest of BC West (The Young Bucks, Marty Scurll and Adam Page), all three of The Elite (Omega and The Bucks), the recently retired Bully Ray and presumed current #1 contender Dalton Castle. And that’s with one more surprise to come.
What will it be? Will NXT load up their downtown event even more?
This is pretty fun!
