CM Punk struggling with weight issues ahead of UFC 203

During a wide-ranging interview with Ariel Helwani (that we’ve already covered angles from here and here), CM Punk was asked about his weight and where he’s at just a couple days from weigh-ins for his UFC 203 fight against Mickey Gall in Cleveland. He looked physically pained while responding.

He said:

"Right now? When does this come out? ... It's a thing. It's a thing I gotta do. It's not going so well, I guess. I mean, it's not fun. Nope (I've never done a weight cut). Nope (I didn't do a practice weight cut)."

But is he worried about it?

"Nah."

Okay then!

He would go on to say he hasn't weighed 171-pounds since high school or junior high but he doesn't regret taking this fight at welterweight. If he does miss weight, he would have to forfeit a percentage of his purse to his opponent, Gall, and they would then need to agree upon a catchweight to ensure the bout goes ahead as planned.

But that was yesterday. Today at the pre-fight press conference, he was asked about his weight again:

"My weight cut is, you know, it's not a fun thing to do. If anybody's done it they know. I'm not going to tell you it's been super awesome or disastrous either way, that's for you to figure out. I'm sitting pretty right now. I feel good. I'm here. I've got a little color in my cheeks. I don't look bad, do I? Alright."

We’ll have coverage of the weigh-in event taking place tomorrow, where we’ll find out just how bad it really is for the former WWE star.
