With a Tweet earlier in the day promising she was coming to television to deliver “bad news”, Sasha Banks got the WWE Universe nervous about what The Boss might have to say.
News about her injury and recovery had been good. She wouldn’t need surgery. She should be back soon.
But a tearful promo about the history of women’s wrestling, and the evolution she’s been a major part of over the last year-plus, put real fear in fans.
Luckily, we were all able to breathe a big sigh of relief when Dana Brooke’s music hit. Because there are a lot of ways to play a former NXT and WWE Women’s champ’s retirement, but Dana heeling on her isn’t one of them.
Brooke said she was going to finish what Charlotte started, and came at the Boss. She ended up tapping to a Banks Statement, as it became clear that Sasha and WWE had pretty expertly played us all.

The “bad news” was for Charlotte, as not only is her rival back, but she’s exercising her rematch clause for Clash of Champions.
That match joins the following card for Sept. 25 in Indianapolis:
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal championship
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows vs. The New Day (c) for the Tag Team championship
Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks for the Women’s championship
