Season three’s third episode comes your way tonight (Sept. 21), and Lucha Underground is promising two title matches and the return of another popular big man.
Yes, the F’n Machine, the Swolverine, hailing from the 5-5-9... They Call Him Cage is back. Last we saw the agile muscle machine, he lost to his frequent rival The Mack in Dario Cueto’s “For a Unique Opportunity” tournament at Ultima Lucha Dos.
And that may play a role in his season debut as well, because we know he’ll be facing Texano, who fell to Son of Havoc in that tourney, and we know from El Rey’s promo materials that Dario has declared “two luchadores will compete for the ‘Ultimate Opportunity’.” Will Cage win that honor? And based on the history of Cueto “opportunities” - does he even want to?
Also on tap from El Jefe, another installment of his “Dial of Doom”, where a spin of the wheel selects another victim/challenger for his brother, LU champ Matanza. Will this week’s “winner” fare better than Son of Havoc did in the season opener?
Details are scare, but we’ve been told the Trios title will be on the line in this episode as well. We haven’t seen much of super-friends Aero Star, Drago and Fénix since they took the straps from Worldwide Underground at the end of season two. Maybe the spaceman’s been time-travelling to watch medallions of immortality get handed out to try to figure out what’s going on with Captain Vasquez... but I digress.
Will Johnny Mundo, PJ Black, Jack Evans and Taya come looking for revenge, or will a new three-person team get a chance to take the belts?
Find out at 8PM Eastern tonight, True Believers!
