Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss SmackDown women’s title match official for WWE No Mercy 2016

Alexa Bliss became the top contender to the SmackDown women’s championship during last night’s episode of SmackDown Live in Philadelphia by winning a Fatal 5-Way match. For whatever reason, WWE elected not to announce when her match with the champ, Becky Lynch, would take place.

Until today.

Indeed, it’s been announced that Lynch will put her blue title on the line against Bliss at the upcoming No Mercy pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., Oct. 9, 2016, at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

A petite punisher with a hair-trigger temper, Alexa claims she embodies everything that The New Era is designed to be. Between her dynamic offense (which is supported by a world-class gymnastics background) and chippy attitude, the villainous Superstar clearly means business, maintaining a steady focus on trying to rule Team Blue’s Women’s division.

Really, Bliss was the only challenger who made sense. Nikki Bella is tied up with Carmella, Lynch just got over a feud with Natalya, and Naomi is likely taking up her issues with Eva Marie once the Red Queen makes her glorious return here soon.

No complaints here.

The updated No Mercy card:

  • AJ Styles vs. John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose (WWE world championship)
  • Becky Lynch vs. Alexa Bliss (SmackDown women’s championship)
