Raw vs. SmackDown Live: Which show included more wrestling (September 12 - 13)?

WWE.com

It’s a new era in WWE, and there is an ongoing competition between the Raw and SmackDown Live brands. This column is focused on how much televised wrestling content is seen on each brand when commercial time is removed from the equation.

Televised match times

Here is the amount of television time given to each match on the September 12, 2016 edition of Raw:

  • 8m 50s: Sasha vs Bayley vs Dana (1 commercial break)
  • 1m 14s: Brandon Scott vs Bo Dallas
  • 6m 59s: Cesaro vs Sheamus (1 break)
  • 2m 02s: Alicia Fox vs Nia Jax
  • 9m 53s: New Day vs The Club
  • 3m 19s: Jack Swagger vs Jinder Mahal
  • 3m 19s: Enzo Amore vs Epico
  • 18m 13s: Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns (1 break)

The listed time for Nia’s match could perhaps be shortened by 20 seconds or so. There was no bell to officially end the match, so I waited until the referee’s hand gestures made it clear that the match was finished.

Reigns and Owens wrestled in two parts, separated by the Rollins attack. About 9m 38s of the first part was televised, and there was 1 commercial break to go along with it. The second part lasted 8m 35s and was uninterrupted by commercial breaks.

Here is the amount of television time given to each match on the September 13, 2016 edition of SmackDown Live:

  • 2m 22s: Hype Bros vs The Usos
  • 5m 11s: Naomi vs Nikki vs Carmella vs Natalya vs Alexa
  • 2m 09s: Slater and Rhyno vs The Ascension (began during a break)
  • 6m 56s: Styles, Miz vs Ambrose, Cena (began during a break, 1 mid-match break)
