Over the weekend WWE did us all the favor of releasing some of the dark matches from the last round of Cruiserweight Classic tapings, so we’ve gone ahead and collected them both right here for you to enjoy, folks.
Cedric Alexander vs. Oney Lorcan
When news of this one came out I was really hoping we’d get video and here we are! It’s Lorcan’s stiff strikes and grappling acumen against Alexander’s heart and athleticism, and it lives up to the hype. Plus you know it’s 2016 when we get an avalanche half nelson suplex in a WWE ring!
Drew Gulak & Tony Nese vs. Kenneth Johnson & Lince Dorado
Definitely some odd couple teams here— Gulak and Nese teaming feels like we’re in an alternate universe! But both teams work together well and it comes together nicely. In particular I can’t help but think Nese and Johnson would have been better served working against each other in the first round of the actual tournament. Plus, y’know, one-arm deadlift powerbomb to the outside!
Plus WWE have released last week’s quarterfinal episode to YouTube!
