CM Punk made his MMA debut at UFC 203 this past Sat., Sept. 10, 2016, in a welterweight fight against Mickey Gall in Cleveland, Ohio. He was beaten up, badly, and submitted just 2:14 into the bout.
He was paid $500,000 for it.
Indeed, MMA Fighting got salary information for fighters on the card that night from the Ohio Athletic Commission and Punk’s pay was a flat $500K. That means he wouldn’t have been given a win bonus but also doesn’t include any money he made off sponsorships or pay-per-view (PPV) bonus points.
For what it’s worth, Gall made just $30,000. He earned $15,000 for fighting and an additional $15,000 for winning.
Punk was not the highest paid fighter on the card, at least as far as his base salary goes. Alistair Overeem, who fought for the heavyweight championship in the main event, made $800,000 while Stipe Miocic, the heavyweight champion Overeem was fighting, banked $600,000.
