WWE Backlash 2016 results: Becky Lynch wins SmackDown women’s championship

The pay-per-view (PPV) portion of tonight’s (Sun., Sept. 11, 2016) WWE Backlash event from the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia, opened with a Six-Pack Challenge for the vacant SmackDown Live women’s championship. Becky Lynch, Natalya, Naomi, Nikki Bella, Alexa Bliss, and Carmella were all competing for the strap.

This was an elimination match, and here was the order they went out:

  1. Alexa Bliss
  2. Naomi
  3. Natalya
  4. Nikki Bella
  5. Carmella

The match was a lot of fun. Everyone got plenty of time to get their stuff in and everyone looked good. It took an awful lot for every single elimination until Nikki, when Carmella took advantage of an opening to get some more heat on her.

It worked, because fans were shocked. It also put that much more support behind Becky. She overcame an early onslaught before locking on the Disarmher to get the tap to win her first WWE title.
