Joey Styles reportedly released by WWE

WWE.com

Well, this is interesting.

According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, WWE has released Joey Styles, who had been working for the company website as the Vice President of Digital Media Content. The report doesn’t offer any word on why the former voice of ECW was let go but the obvious speculation surrounds his recent Facebook Live Q&A with Cathy Kelley.

In it, Styles was openly critical of WWE over various issues like the name of the Universal championship and the idea behind a three-man commentary booth. He also made headlines recently with comments on why Roman Reigns has been pushed as the top babyface star, putting it on Vince McMahon wanting it and moms and kids supporting it.

You could argue his comments weren’t all that controversial but the video was taken off YouTube and Facebook and Styles hasn’t tweeted since that decision was made. Now, we get this news that he’s no longer with the company.

We’ll likely know the reason sooner rather than later. Stay tuned.
