Of the list of reasons Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs could be appearing on Raw, this is pretty benign. Maybe even kind of cool?
Picking up something WWE and 2K Studios did with the 2014 release of WWE 2K15, where John Cena and Wiz Khalifa teamed up to curate the soundtrack for the licensed game, Diddy will be the maestro behind the 13 songs you can rock out to while laying the smacketh downeth on your friends and computer-controlled opponents.
Here’s what Combs told Billboard (via press release) when asked why he’s continuing a partnership with WWE, which dates back to WrestleMania 29:
I am a huge WWE fan. I love the intensity and the competition and I wanted fans to feel that energy in the soundtrack for WWE 2K17. While prepping for the upcoming Bad Boy 20-Year Family Reunion Tour, I’ve been thinking a lot about the past and the artists that inspired me. I mixed some of my favorites with some of the best new acts in the game today to create something really special.
Both the Raw appearance, and it being exclusively announced via Rolling Stone, make a little more sense now.
Here’s a promo video with Combs talking about his thought process behind the mix of hip-hop, rock and electronica, and a listing of tracks:
* Action Bronson & Joey Bada$$ (feat. Rico Love) – “What About The Rest Of Us”
* Anderson .Paak – “Come Down”
* Andy Black – “We Don’t Have To Dance”
* Axwell Λ Ingrosso – “This Time”
* Black Sabbath – “Paranoid”
* Bring Me The Horizon – “Run”
