NXT live event results from Jacksonville (Aug. 27): Almas goes rudo

Erin Bunuan on Instagram

Where?

The Maxwell Snyder Armory in Jacksonville, Florida.

What happened?

- Rich Swann def. Steve Cutler
- Daria Berenato def. Billie Kay
- Alexander Wolfe & Sawyer Fulton defeated Adrian Jaoude & Cezar Bononi
- Oney Lorcan def. Andrade “Cien” Almas
- DIY def. The Revival (non-title match)
- Bobby Roode def. Riddick Moss
- Macey Estrella promo
- Ember Moon def. Nikki Cross
- Hideo Itami def. Austin Aries

What caught our eye?

Daria won by DQ when Mandy Rose (Billie’s tag partner from last night) ran in to break up a submission. Asuka (Berenato’s partner from Citrus Springs) came to even the score and challenge the heels to a tag match the next time NXT is in Jacksonville.

They really do run NXT like it’s own territory.

More notable than Cien’s third straight loss is that he worked heel against Lorcan, refusing to throw his shirt to fans, yelling at fan-favorite referee Drake Wuertz and stealing a fan’s chair:

The tag champs tapped when both Dash & Dawson were locked in Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa’s finishers. Keeping the storyline alive, Gargano had his leg worked over all match. Afterwards, the champs tried to get their heat back and take out Johnny Wrestling’s leg like they did Big Cass, but Ciampa made the save and the hit their finisher to send the crowd into intermission happy.

Didn’t see anything that said Roode wrestled differently, but they pitted him against a guy who’s an established heel on the house show circuit. Hmmmm...

Estrella is the former Marine from the last signing class. Her promo was said to be pretty basic, but got high marks on Twitter:

PWTorch’s live report referred to the O-Face as the Moon Landing. Haven’t seen that anywhere else, and I don’t really like it, but keep your ears perked.

Aries bragged to the crowd before the main event that he’d drank 12 cups of coffee to stay awake for boring little Jacksonville, so guess how he was finished?

What's next?

Looks like they have Labor Day weekend off, and don’t come back until Sept. 8 in Largo.
