UFC’s Paige Van Zant definitely wants to do something with WWE

Back when Brock Lesnar’s UFC return was first announced, the belief was WWE would have an appearance by a mixed martial artist signed to that promotion as a ‘make good’ for allowing Vince McMahon’s prized asset to step back into the Octagon.

The most realistic name floated was Strawweight Paige VanZant. Though the 22 year old was coming off a one-sided defeat last December, the humble way she handled it combined with a star-making turn on Dancing With the Stars (and, let’s be honest, that she’s a beautiful blonde) have seen her stock rise coming out of her UFC Fight Night 80 loss to Rose Namajunas.

VanZant’s manager later revealed his client was turning down all non-MMA work after DWTS to focus on making her next trip inside the Octagon (scheduled for tonight, Aug. 27, on UFC on Fox 21) successful.

But that doesn’t mean she’s ruled out sports entertainment.

She spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard earlier this week about her negotiations with, and future interest in, WWE:

We heard a little bit from them. They’re someone I’d love to partner with and work with, they’re a great organization.

I’m a huge fan of WWE, and I definitely want to keep them close. Eventually, it’s still something I would love to do.

After weeks of listening to Conor McGregor bash our beloved pastime (working or no), it’s nice to hear someone from UFC say nice things about doing business in pro wrestling.
