New Jersey’s Enzo Amore and New York’s Big Cass kicked off SummerSlam tonight (Aug. 21) from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with their usual crowd-pleasing promo, filled with Big Apple-inspired lyrics and singing.
Needless to say, the crowd ate it up.
It was a good way to open, both to get the New York crowd rocking, and since the basis of their feud with Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens was basically the two Canadians being fed up with the Certified G & his seven-foot friend’s antics.
After some quick offense from the “home town” team, the heels took control and worked over Amore... the highlight of which was Owens mocking Zo’s signature dance.
Enzo almost made it to the corner for a tag, but Y2J pushed him out of thin air as he dove toward his corner. A frog splash from Owens earned a nearfall, but KO missed a cannonball in the corner, and both men reached their partners.
Big Cass cleaned house, and was positioning his teammate for their Boom Shakka Lakka tandem finisher, but Owens pushed Zo off the top rope. KO and the big man brawled ringside, but Amore couldn’t finish off Jericho in the ring.
Back inside, Owens launched Amore face first into a Codebreaker from his partner, and JeriKO picked up a big win over the lifelong friends.
