WWE is pushing Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens as one of the great bro-mances of all-time

Chris Jericho on Instagram

Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens road to their tag match at SummerSlam has been a bit of a rocky one.

They were actually linked as a unit earlier this year, but both guys’ frankly horrible track record being a partner bit them in the ass, and what looked like a really fun pairing only lasted a couple of weeks.

Now that they’ve been reunited by a common foe in Enzo Amore & Big Cass, their team-up has been drawn into a bit of an internet controversy due to Cass comparing them to Bert & Ernie from Sesame Street, with a wink-wink, nudge-nudge toward that meaning they’re gay (as many a pop culture joke has insinuated about the yellow and orange puppets) on the Aug. 8 Raw.

Jericho and WWE.com are rolling with the punches, using Photoshops of the pair as other famous duos to sell the team - with the side-benefit of distracting from the non-GLAAD friendly Bert & Ernie reference - and create a meme.

My personal favorite is in the header (and you can see it in all its glory here), but there are many, many good ones.

For those of us old enough to remember SCTV:

This one’s a little more modern, and involves time travel:

The trend also infringes on the 90s, and Enzo’s home turf of Jersey:

And now that WWE is pushing it with the #JeriKOart, more and more folks are getting in on the fun (and bringing the references closer to present day):

Chime in with your favorites below, Cagesiders, and please don’t split these guys up on Sunday, WWE.
