With a little more than a week before the sequel to one of their most well-regarded live specials in history (and when you’re talking about the TakeOver brand, that’s really saying something), NXT’s line-up for Back to Brooklyn was looking a little light.
That changed with the Aug. 10 episode on WWE Network.
We knew going in that Women’s champ Asuka would sign the paperwork to make her rematch with Bayley official, but that was only the second match officially announced for the Saturday, Aug. 20 event.
Over the course of 60 minutes, General Manager William Regal rapidly made fights for many of his top stars.
Fresh off their show-stealing performance in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic, Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa will get their first shot at WWE gold when they meet Tag Team titleholders The Revival.
Newcomer Bobby Roode broke the news to Andrade “Cien” Almas that he was lucky enough to be the Glorious One’s first opponent in a televised WWE bout.
And the long simmering feud between Austin Aries and No Way Jose will finally lead to a match.
There’s still a week to go, and some prominent names without anything to do. We’ll see if Regal adds to this list on the ‘go home’ show, but if Ember Moon’s debut is a match, we’re right around the number of bouts usually booked for TakeOvers.
- Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT championship
- Asuka vs. Bayley for the NXT Women’s title
- The Revival vs. Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT Tag Team championship
- Austin Aries vs. No Way Jose
- Bobby Roode vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
- Ember Moon debuts
How’s that line-up look to you, Cagesiders?
NOTE: We had a guess at the full card from spoiler reports here, but it’s unclear if we’re getting the last match listed there, since tonight’s episode did not show the segment as taped.
