Cody Rhodes' first full weekend of independent wrestling set with matches against Chris Hero and Zack Sabre, Jr. at Evolve

Cody Rhodes put Chris Hero on his list and now he gets to check him off with word that he's set to face him at Evolve 67 on August 20th in Brooklyn, New York (with a special 3PM Eastern bell-time so as to not conflict with NXT Takeover: Back to Brooklyn) dropping in the newest WWN Alerts.

Also freshly scheduled is a replacement match the night before, as Johnny Gargano has another commitment and had to back out of the card. So instead Cody will wrestle arguably the best technical wrestler today, Zack Sabre, Jr. at Evolve 66 in Joppa, Maryland. It's a hell of a way to hit the ground running, as you couldn't pick two better wrestlers in the world today to make a strong first impression on the independent scene.

Cody's preparation to face Johnny Wrestling won't be going to waste, however, as that match has been rescheduled for a show in September.

As always, Evolve doesn't let the ball stop there, as Johnny Gargano's match against Drew Galloway at Evolve 65 on July 17th in Melrose, Massachusetts is now being billed as THE FINAL SHOWDOWN, the last time the two shall ever meet in an Evolve ring. It's gonna be a real barn-burner, folks. The last time we had a final anything in Evolve, Timothy Thatcher was bleeding from the ear and Biff Busick's thumb got broke so bad he became Oney Lorcan.

And also at Evolve 65, Catch Point will be in trios action with a unique twist-- Drew Gulak, "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams, and Fred Yehi will take on a team yet to be named in a Catch Point Open Tryout match. Applications are open, and should one of the three mystery men pin a member of Catch Point for the win, he'll be offered a spot in their ranks.

Summer 2016 just keeps getting hotter and hotter, folks!
