There are only two episodes of SmackDown remaining before the show moves to Tuesday nights to go live on a permanent basis. WWE is now promoting the next show this coming Thursday night by revealing we’ll get a major announcement.
We’re going to learn who Brock Lesnar will wrestle at SummerSlam on Aug. 21, 2016, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
This is interesting if only because said announcement will come just days before Lesnar is to fight Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in Las Vegas. Rumors suggested WWE would wait for the result of that fight to determine who Brock would feud with upon his return to the squared circle but those have obviously been proven false.
But why?
It seems strange, to say the least, that WWE would simply announce an opponent without any build to it. Unless, of course, they have something big planned that can stand on its own without needing a story going into it.
We’ll find out soon enough.
