WWE Battleground 2016 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Battleground show set to take place on Sun., July 24, 2016, at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. This will be the fourth event to use the name as the annual July showcase heading into SummerSlam.

We're still three weeks out from showtime and only the main event has been announced for the show:

- Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns (WWE world heavyweight championship)

Ambrose cashed in the Money in the Bank contract to win the title just after Rollins defeated Reigns for it in the main event of the Money in the Bank PPV. The next night, Reigns and Rollins went to a double count out in a number one contender match in the main event of Raw, leading to both getting booked in a triple threat to headline this show. It was revealed just one day later that Reigns had failed a Wellness test and he's been suspended for 30 days. He will be back in time for this event, however, and he's still being advertised, so unless something changes he's working the match.

- Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

The sell job they’ve done for this is that it will be their final encounter after a decade of feuding with each other. You can count on that being wrong, but the match being good.

Nothing else has been made official but some rumors include:

John Cena vs. AJ Styles
New Day vs. The Wyatt Family
Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks & Paige
Natalya vs. Becky Lynch
Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews
The Club vs. The Usos
