Moments after we learned the show was actually called NXT TakeOver: The End... of the Beginning, that show began with Tye "Perfect 10" Dillinger and Andrade "Cien" Almas.
WWE had played up the mystery around Almas, who rose to fame in CMLL and New Japan as masked luchador La Sombra. He lost his mask before joining NXT, which is just as well seeing as how he's kind of ridiculously good-looking.
It's difficult to tell much more about his character from this outing, but we definitely learned we can count on seeing charisma and great wrestling.
Dillinger is a heel who gets a face reaction, and he didn't do anything to change that response here - delivering a strong performance and even a pretty convincing near-fall when he caught Almas with a Superkick in the corner.
Of course, we all knew the debuting act was going to win, and he did after about ten minutes with his running knee finisher.
We'll have to wait to find out what's next for either man, but here's a taste of what you can expect from Andrade "Cien" Almas:
