Things have been getting testy between noted patriot Titus O'Neil and United States champion Rusev. With Jack Swagger unable to pick up an elusive second win against the Bulgarian Brute, and former champ Kalisto missing in action since Extreme Rules, WWE matchmakers have taken the logical step of giving Titus a chance to represent America and take the red, white and blue strap from Lana's man.
Money in the Bank will now feature a match between the two, WWE.com revealed this morning.
The site is sure to point out that this is not a case of Rusev granting O'Neil the match he's been challenging the champ to, but WWE officials stepping in to book it. RuRu will probably not be happy, but he'll have to move past that to make his promised seven year reign a reality.
The match joins these others already set for the June 19 show in Las Vegas:
- Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns (c) for the WWE World Heavyweight championship
- AJ Styles vs. John Cena
- Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro vs. Chris Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Alberto Del Rio in the Money in the Bank ladder match
- The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows in a Fatal 4Way for the Tag Team titles
