WWE Raw preview (June 6, 2016): Club mix

WWE.com

We can be pretty sure CM Punk isn't showing up tonight for Raw in Oklahoma City, but other than that... all bets are off in the "New Era" and pro wrestling 2016.

The Headliner

Case in point, WWE is all in on a story pitting AJ Styles leading a thinly veiled Bullet Club into war against John Cena.

It began a week ago, when the Face That Runs the Place made his latest miraculous return from injury. Styles met him in the ring for one of those reactions only a staredown can give you, and only every once in a long while. We were all expecting an honorably made challenge, accepted honorably.

But then Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows showed up, and AJ reminded us that he can also be a Phenomenal heel. The reunited trio stomped out Cena, and declared their intention to rule the "New Era".

The champ who is once again here doesn't actually hold any gold, but the impending brand split makes the possibility of he or Styles with a World title tantalizingly possible. Their upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) match could put the winner in pole position for a returning World Heavyweight championship.

Gallows & Anderson have targeted WWE tag team titleholders The New Day, as well. Before we even knew The Club was a trio, they attacked Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods on Raw - and followed it up by brawling with E & X while AJ defeated Kofi on Thursday.

WWE.com's preview is teasing a response from Cena, AJ says he'll offer an explanation... there will be fireworks tonight Maggle!

The Title Scene

After returning to action on the house show circuit, might we see an on-screen match for #1 contender to the WWE World Heavyweight belt, Seth Rollins. Last week, he didn't even talk to the man who wears the strap he never lost, Roman Reigns. Continued silence would be fine, but maybe an actual match or brawl of some kind could replace the game of chicken?

The reward for ditching her old man looks like it will be a month without having to defend her Women's championship. Charlotte's past rivals Becky Lynch & Natalya have joined forces to deal with the new Dirtiest Player in the Game and her sidekick, Dana Brooke.

Thanks to WWE Studios, Miz's Intercontinental title is definitely taking the month off - but the Hollywood A-Lister and his lovely wife have promised to check in via Facebook video.

While he awaits word from Brock Lesnar, United States champ Rusev will have to deal with Titus O'Neil if his reign is going to make it seven weeks - let alone seven years.

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- Speaking of the Beast Incarnate... well, you heard the news, right? We'll be watching to see who he's fighting at UFC 200, and what WWE says about it.

- One thing Brock won't be doing is getting in the ladder match at the next PPV. In fact, the current word is that no one else will be joining Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose & Alberto Del Rio as the battle for the briefcase which contains a contract for a WWE title shot.

- The Golden Truth and Breezango will probably continue to circle one another, and Enzo Amore & Big Cass will probably beat up the Dudleyz.

- Hopefully the NXT call-ups will mix it up tonight, so Dolph Ziggler kicks Apollo Crews in the nuts while Big Show gives Baron Corbin veteran advice.

Two weeks until Money in the Bank!!
