This thing is moving fast, Cagesiders.
WWE has already begun promoting Brock Lesnar's fight against a still unannounced opponent at UFC 200 on July 9 in Las Vegas.
This went up on their website and social media moments ago:
Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE forSummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.
Some are saying Vince McMahon and Lesnar agreed he could have one fight with UFC, and that addendum to his WWE contract (which still has approximately ten months on it) happened either immediately following WrestleMania 32 or perhaps earlier, when the company asked for more dates from Brock.
Whenever it happened, the big unknown now - aside from who will step into the Octagon to face the Beast Incarnate - is what WWE is getting out of this deal. It's clearly about money, as UFC 100 - headlined by Lesnar - is still the highest grossing PPV in UFC history, but what does McMahon get?
It will provide publicity, and at a time when they need it for the upcoming brand split and move of SmackDown to a live Tuesday broadcast.
But a poor showing by Brock at MGM's T-Mobile Arena next month could also damage the former WWE and UFC Heavyweight champ's drawing power in pro wrestling.
We'll find out, as Lesnar becomes the first guy to work two shows for two different companies in back-to-back months this Summer.
Just when you thought 2016 couldn't get any weirder...
