Update: It's happening.
According to a report from MMA Fighting, a deal is in the works that would see Brock Lesnar make his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) for a fight at the upcoming UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for July 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
From the report:
Both sides are close to finalizing a deal, and if all goes well, Lesnar's return to mixed martial arts could be announced imminently.
While talks are progressing well between Lesnar and the UFC, an opponent for Lesnar isn't close to being finalized. It is unclear at this time who is under consideration.
It's been expected that Lesnar would be coming back to WWE television soon to set up for a match at SummerSlam. This doesn't rule that out, of course, but it would also mean some sort of deal has been worked out between the two sides that would allow Brock to return to the Octagon. He signed a new deal to stay with WWE last year just before dropping the WWE world heavyweight championship to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 31. When he signed that deal, he also announced the end of his mixed martial arts career.
It appears he's had second thoughts about that.
More on this story as it develops.
