Tonight's episode of SmackDown was filmed on Tuesday night in Miami. We've got a spoiler report for you here. If you just want to get ready for the show without knowing who wins and loses, read on!
The Headliner
Is it just me, or does Creative rely on their “talk shows” a lot these days?
The first thing announced for tonight’s show - which you should know in advance is gonna be a little light due to several roster members flying to Honolulu immediately after Raw to start the weekend tour of the Pacific - was an episode of Miz TV with a guest who also has a “talk show”, WWE champion Dean Ambrose.
The Intercontinental titleholder is just back himself after a month off filming his new WWE Studios flick, Marine 5. He did slide in under the wire on the Tunney Rule via his defense against Kane on Monday, so he doesn’t need to have a match tonight.
But I can’t be the only person who thinks - despite this ostensibly being a chance for the Awesome One to ask the Lunatic Fringe about his upcoming Triple Threat against his Shield brothers - Ambrose and Miz might just end up in a match against each other tonight, am I?
The Title Scene
We may not have the full array of talent (and this will be a good warm-up for when they split the rosters next month, anyway), but we will have a plot line for at least a couple of the matches. Cesaro, Apollo Crews, Sheamus & Alberto Del Rio will face off in a Fatal 4Way, with the winner going on to challenge Rusev for his United States championship later in the show!
Since returning last week, Sasha Banks has been on a roll. The Boss has also made it perfectly clear that her goal is to win the Women’s title from Charlotte. The champ’s associate Dana Brooke hasn’t proven to be much of an obstacle to Banks - will anyone slow her roll toward the belt? Dana will get some image rehab for the next time she faces Sasha with Billie Kay from NXT.
Tag champs The New Day haven’t shied away from using their usual tricks against Bray Wyatt and company. Well, two thirds of them haven’t, anyway. Xavier Woods is along for the ride, but it looks like the Eater of Worlds might be in his head a little. If he’s watching, he’ll see Erick Rowan & Braun Strowman return to action tonight.
Other stuff to keep an eye on:
- Becky Lynch has had just enough of people betraying her, and she let Natalya know that in no uncertain terms on Monday night.
- After taking turns screwing each other out of shots in the WWE title picture, AJ Styles and John Cena are even more motivated to put the other down in a match than before.
- They may fight forever, but Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are looking to finish a chapter of their story at Battleground next month.
- Honestly don’t think any of those people were in Florida on Tuesday, but now you know. Just in case.
(Note: I know some folks have come looking for a more definitive match listing - that will be posted behind spoiler text in the comments. If WWE.com releases more information on anything that's officially going to take place on tonight's show, that'll be updated here)
See you tonight for SmackDown!
