The reunion of Tajiri and William Regal is everything you always dreamed it would be... and more

There’s a lot to get excited about regarding WWE Network’s upcoming Cruiserweight Classic tournament, premiering July 13.

32 men competing in a single elimination tournament, some of whom we never thought would show up on a WWE screen, let alone in matches with one another under this bright a spotlight... the CWC is the crown jewel (so far) of pro wrestling’s crazy 2016.

For me, though? Not that the prospect of seeing Rich Swann vs. Akira Tozawa one Wednesday night after NXT doesn’t excite me - it does. But from the moment they announced the field, one thing’s been on my mind, and it didn’t have anything to do with the jaw-dropping in-ring exhibitions to come.

Nope, it’s the reunion of one of the best odd couple tag team pairings in wrestling history: The Japanese Buzzsaw Tajiri and The Gentleman Villain William Regal.

I’m obviously not alone in marking out for the duo who could do anything from win the World tag titles to nail backstage bits based on Scotty 2 Hotty’s signature move. Regal tried to ease us back into their partnership with Tweets like this one:

Before WWE unveiled the moment they were reunited, in this amazing piece of business from the Performance Center:

It wouldn’t make any sense, given the “real” sports vibe the CWC is going for, but if Regal doesn’t accidentally get green mist-ed before all is said and done, I’m gonna be bummed.
