LU S2E23 LIVE BLOG

Matt Stryker announces that Fenix/Aerostar/Drago will face PJ Black/Johnny Mundo/Jack Evans for the Trios title at Ultima Lucha Dos.

King Cuerno vs. Mil Muertes

They're doing this match now? This has to set up for Ultima Lucha.

Mil dishes out some major punishment onto the King early on. Cuerno fights back and hits the Arrow from the Depths of Hell but the ref is caught up as well and completely knock out on the outside. The Hunter uses this opportunity to introduce a chair and delivers an unprotected headshot to Muertes. But Mil completely no sold it and knocks Cuerno down with a punch!

Mil is now using the chair himself and sets it up int he corner. He tosses the King into it but Cuerno reverses momentum and tosses Mil into the chair. He then rolls up Mil and holds the rope (which the recently recovered ref did not see) to get the win.

In Dario's office, El Jefe is speaking with both Ivelisse and Taya. He talks up both women's accomplishments, but there could only be one "baddest bitch" and at Ultima Lucha, they're going to fight to see who that is. Catrina walks in as those two are leaving telling Dario that Mil Muertes wants a rematch with Cuerno... in a Death Match. Cueto tells her that he hates her, but he's into the idea. She's got the match.

Prince Puma vs. El Dragon Azteca Jr (w/Rey Mysterio)

Wow. This match was wild. It was just back and forth high flying action with a ton of impressive spots, reversals, and near falls that ends with a 630 from Puma to Azteca.

After the match, Rey Mysterio checks on El Dragon Azteca. Puma walks up to him and says that today he did this to Azteca and at Ultima Lucha, he's going to do it to Rey. He then gives Mysterio a patronizing pat on the back and the two have a bit of a stare down.

Cage, Texano, Mack, & Son of Havac are in the ring with Dario Cueto. He tells them they will be entered in the "Unique Opportunity Tournament." He says that the only victor will receive the spoils. Then he has them start fighting right now. (We don't know exactly what they're fighting for.) The brief brawl ends with Cage standing tall.

Fenix vs. Johnny Mundo (with Taya)

Johnny flips off everyone at the very beginning of the match.

Johnny has control early on and gets some help from Taya on the outside to help him maintain the advantage. Feniz is able to take them both down with one survive and with Taya neutralized, he takes control on Mundo.

After a lot of fun back and forth action, Fenix hits the standing Spanish Fly on Mundo (and that's Johnny's move) from the top rope. Taya jumps on the apron and distracts the ref. While the referee is distracted, Mundo grabs the Trios Title belt, which Taya tossed in earlier, and hits Fenix with it. He picks up the pinfall.

The rest of the Trios champs run out. The celebrate and then lay the boots to Fenix. This gets the other members of Fenix's trios team out. Ivelisse also runs out to neutralize Taya. The groups brawl and the technicos are left holding the ring at the end.
