When Kurt Angle gave an interview to Mark Madden that included his saying he had a talk with Triple H and would be returning to WWE, that, obviously, became a big story. He made clear he didn’t know when he would return and that nothing regarding the brand split was discussed but the story got picked up everywhere and more or less spiraled into the idea that he would be back sooner rather than later.
Then, a report from the Observer made the rounds saying he wouldn’t be returning to WWE after all. That led to more questions, so Angle addressed the situation on his Facebook page:
“In response to some of your questions today regarding the WWE, and all of the media fanfare about it the last few days, I want to, once again, say that our confidential conversation never discussed the brand split. A few wrestling sites seem to have put a spin on this by twisting some words around to fit their agenda, something that I have no control over. What I CAN control is my own life, and my life isn't only wrestling. I do not expect to be in wrestling much longer. I AM excited about my future. Thank you.”
That doesn’t exactly clear things up and will likely only lead to further speculation. It sounds like WWE still doesn’t want him wrestling and maybe he’ll be headed back once his in-ring career is officially over. But, again, even in an attempt to clear things up, Angle doesn’t exactly make it obvious what the plans may be.
We’ll just have to stay tuned.
