NXT is back in Winter Park, Florida for a show at their home base of Full Sail Live, where they'll tape matches and segments for their regular Wednesday night series on WWE Network.
They filmed a bunch of material the night after the TakeOver special which occurred earlier this month, and they’re scheduled back here in a couple weeks for more taping on Wednesday, July 13... the night we’ve been told the dream match of Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Finn Bálor will air. But will that bout be filmed tonight or broadcast live from that show?
How much of this evening’s card will be build for August's TakeOver: Back to Brooklyn event, and how much will be prepping for the transition of stars from NXT to Raw and SmackDown?
We’ll find out as the results start rolling in from Winter Park, Florida. We'll be updating those here live, starting at the scheduled 6:30PM Eastern bell time:
- Tye Dillinger def. enhancement talent (Kai Katana) in a dark match
July 6
- Bayley def. Alexa Bliss via pinfall following Belly-to-Bayley(-to-Belly or whatever TF, you know what I mean). This reportedly got a good amount of time and both women looked great.
- Nia Jax interrupts Bayley’s post-match promo. The Hugster was talking about her “long road back”, and Jax reportedly didn’t speak. No contact, just a staredown between the last two women to lose to Asuka.
- Blake & Murphy vs. Hype Bros ends in a no contest because Rhyno returned to GORE, GORE, GORE everyone. The former tag champs bickered during the match, so that storyline continues.
- The Revival def. American Alpha in a best two-out-of-three falls match to retain the NXT tag championship: Dash & Dawson control the action early, but lose fall 1 by submission when Dash taps to a Jordan ankle lock after about 15 minutes; Revival quickly takes the second fall via tapout with an inverted Figure Four; champs win third fall after a Shatter Machine (OUT OF NOWHERE) on the apron
- Samoa Joe is out. Says he’s only here to watch Nakamura/Bálor, but questions the idea the winner should get a title shot (teases for Joe/Nak at TakeOver start - the champ claims he’s “the emperor” who’ll conquer the King of Strong Style). While he’s talking Rhyno appears and challenges him. Joe says only on his time and leaves.
July 20
- Austin Aries def. Patrick Clark via submission with Last Chancery. Afterwards - when A-Double wouldn’t release the hold), No Way Jose came out and attacked Aries.
- Andrade “Cien” Almas def. Angelo Dawkins.
- Eva Marie returns, making Dascha read her long custom intro. Her match is against Asuka, who wins with an Asuka Lock.
- Samoa Joe def. Rhyno by submission/choke out with a Coquina Clutch
- American Alpha came out for a match with Authors of Pain, who attacked on the ramp and destroyed them before the bell. Gable & Jordan pushed away medical staff and told officials to start the match, which they then lost quickly via pinfall. AA did clear the ring before the match started, which some think was their farewell to Full Sail moment.
- Bayley def. Nia Jax via pinfall following a Belly-to-Bayley from the second rope (online reaction to this is very positive; although there is a camp which popped up later saying it was too long/slow)
July 13 (looks taped out of order to make this the main for Full Sail)
- Shinsuke Nakamura def. Finn Bálor via pinfall following Kinshasa (in a match that folks on Twitter are marking out over; Full Sail did “YES” and “Fight Forever” chants, etc)
- Bálor and Nakamura celebrated with one another, and Finn went around thanking the audience afterwards. This looks like goodbye.
