WWE NXT preview (June 22, 2016): Nobody’s fault

Tye Dillinger on Instagram

It's the second episode from the June 9 Full Sail taping (spoilers for which are here) which will start building from TakeOver: The End... Here's what to expect from the show.

The Headliner

Advertising for tonight focused on the bombshell segment which closed last week’s episode, the set-up for a dream match between Finn Bálor and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Both men agreed to the match, which seems likely to be the former champ’s NXT farewell and either a stepping stone toward the title for his former New Japan co-worker or the last act of a brief swing through the brand before he heads to the main roster to bolster one of the brands post-split.

We don’t know when exactly it will occur, or what current NXT champ Samoa Joe has to say about Nakamura’s plans to claim his belt, so there are numerous ways that could be fleshed out in backstage segments or announcements from commentary tonight.

The Title Scene

We’re scheduled for a big update that will effect Women’s champ Asuka’s plans, as Bayley is supposed to let us know if she’s medically cleared following the “injury” she suffered at the hands of Nia Jax a few months back. Bayley hasn’t used her rematch clause from Dallas yet, and Asuka/Bayley II is a main event waiting to happen. We should take a step toward it tonight.

The first duo in NXT history to become two-time tag champs, The Revival, are feeling even more cocky than normal after they defeated their rivals American Alpha at The End... Chad Gable & Jason Jordan are owed a rematch themselves, but they may have other things they want to take care of first...

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- Such as Paul Ellering’s new team, Authors of Pain. We still don’t know much about the massive pair, but the Hall of Famer promises more will be revealed in time. Can anyone stop them seeing as how they laid waster to the former champs, however?

- TM-61 also announced their presence as players in the tag title scene with a win that may have spelled the end of former champs Blake & Murphy last week. At this point, we’re gonna need another Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic to sort out the pairs scene...

- The women’s division could be equally compelling soon. Carmella made moves toward another title shot last week, and Alexa Bliss has announced her plans to climb the ranks now that she’s free of her boys.

- Meta-drama abounds in the rise of Tye Dillinger, a heel the fans love, and Andrade “Cien” Almas, a face to whom they’ve yet to warm up.

- Will this be the night we see Ember Moon or Oney Lorcan?

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

See you tonight for NXT, Cagesiders!
