Report: WWE knew Roman Reigns’ failed a Wellness test before Money in the Bank

Roman Reigns

Earlier today, WWE announced that Roman Reigns has been suspended for 30 days for his first violation of the Wellness Policy. He immediately took to Twitter to apologize for it, saying “I own it.”

The timing of all this is rather interesting considering Reigns just dropped the WWE world heavyweight championship at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view (PPV) this past Sunday night. The very next night on Raw, he was booked to go to a double count out with Seth Rollins that led to both of them getting booked in a triple threat title match against Dean Ambrose at Battleground on July 24.

What makes it even more interesting is a report from Wrestling Observer Radio indicating WWE knew of his test failure before the Money in the Bank show. That would seem to explain the decision to have him lose clean to Rollins. That doesn’t explain booking him in the match at Battleground, although that show is more than one month away and he could very well work that match in his return. He just won’t be able to appear on television in that time.

That includes the WWE draft on July 19 on the first live SmackDown on Tuesday night on USA. That creates an interesting scenario where he’ll be drafted and won’t be able to appear on the show.

There’s still a lot to learn about this situation. Stay tuned for more as it comes in.
