WWE announced the following:

Jerry Lawler arrested, suspended

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jerry Lawler was arrested at his home Friday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in Memphis, Tenn.

According to a police report, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were taken into custody and booked on alleged charges of domestic assault—bodily harm, a misdemeanor.

WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.

UPDATE: According to TMZ, Lawler’s 27 year old fiancée, Lauryn McBride, claims the 66 year old WWE Hall of Famer hit her in the head, pushed her against the kitchen stove, handed her an unloaded gun and told her to kill herself.

The Memphis legend tells a different story. He says McBride was “very drunk” and scractched his face, threw a candle at him and hit him with a low blow. Lawler told police she was the one who introduced the pistol into the incident.

Here are the couple’s mug shots, as released by WREG in Memphis:

PWInsider adds that Lawler said McBride threatened to kill herself with the gun, and that he was only trying to prevent her from leaving as she was too intoxicated to drive.

The police, rather than try to determine blame in the heat of the moment with a “he said/she said” situation, arrested both. The Shelby County Sheriff's office indicated the couple will be held until their initial hearing on Monday morning.
