Are we on the verge of one of Lucha Underground’s famous one match shows?

Last week, Johnny Mundo pinned Prince Puma to earn himself and his five teammates a shot at Matanza. Tonight, they’ll battle in the Temple’s first “Six to Survive” match, where the winner gets a match for the Lucha Underground championship.

Will Mundo be able to overcome former champ Fenix? What about the lynchpin of Team Dysfunction, Ivellise? His own partner in crime Taya? The hunter and former Gift of the Gods titleholder King Cuerno? Or the recently returned Pentagon, Jr.?

With time running down in season two, tonight’s winner gets the title match at Ultima Lucha Dos.

But will they - and we - be able to focus strictly on what’s taking place in the ring?

Cuerno held his nemesis Mil Muertes’ lifeless body in his trophy case, and now that Catrina has awakened him, the former champ will be gunning for revenge. Chavo Guerrero was integral to Pentagon’s return, and got his arm-snapped for his trouble.

And that doesn’t even get into what Dario Cueto might pull to ensure things go his brother’s way at the end of the year.

Plus, El Jefe may be worrying about where Black Lotus’ head is heading into her match with Dragon Azteca, Jr. Considering he told her Dragon Azteca, Sr. killed her folks, and she killed Jr.’s mentor on his word, he has a few things to worry about. And we’re not even sure what the police want Dario for, or if the Chief is right he’s plotting to bring about the End of Days.

See you tonight.
