TNA Impact Preview (June 14, 2016): Five Questions about Gold Rush

TNA Wrestling Twitter

TNA Impact is back tonight (June 14, 2016) live-ish from Orlando just two days removed from their Slammiversary pay-per-view (PPV). It is also an Impact that will run long with all they have in store. After a PPV that had 3 out of 4 titles change hands, all of the belts will be back on the line tonight.

Here are five questions surrounding tonight’s episode:

1) Will anyone lose their title tonight?

It’s a bit odd in a storytelling sense to make everyone defend the titles that they had to fight hard to defend (in the case of Eli Drake and the King of the Mountain Title) or win (in the case of Eddie Edwards and the X Division title, Sienna and the Knockouts title, and Bobby Lashley and the TNA title). To have to defend the titles so soon after they finished up building up to these big matches the night prior almost makes the hard work at the PPV feel lessened.

One match announced already is the rematch between Trevor Lee, who lost his title Sunday, against Eddie Edwards. Shane Helms says unlike two nights ago, he will be in the corner of his protege. That could be the difference to allow Lee to recapture the gold.

The other match is Eli Drake defending his King of the Mountain title against Jeff Hardy. I would bet that will be a match that Matt Hardy gets involved in, allowing Eli to hold on to the gold.

We don’t know the other matches yet, so they could be rematches from the PPV or new match ups.

2) Who will be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame?

It was announced last week that during tonight’s episode of Impact, they are going to announce the next TNA Hall of Fame inductee. Sting, Kurt Angle, Team 3D, Earl Hebner, & Jeff Jarrett are already in the HOF.

We speculated on who it would be and Cagesider Flyingpigs mentioned Gail Kim as a possibility. After that was suggested, that’s who I think it will be. James Storm, a member of the Beautiful People, Abyss, Mike Tenay, and the Hardys (amongst others) were also suggested. Vote in the poll guessing who it will be below.

3) How badly broken does a Broken Matt become when a Broken Matt breaks through a table?

Broken Matt Hardy was not successful at Slammiversary deleting Brother Nero from the face of this Earth. At first, he was distraught, pacing around his hotel room, making weird faces and generally upsetting fellow hotel guest.

But since then, the Seven Deities told him that... you know what? I have absolutely no idea what he’s talking about. All I know is Broken Matt is a train wreck of a man that I just can’t look away from and I cannot wait to see what weirdness he brings tonight.

4) Is EC3 the next big feud for Lashley’s title?

The Destroyer Lashley choked Drew Galloway out two nights ago to win the TNA championship. Lashley will certainly have to face Drew Galloway in a rematch. Maybe that will be tonight. Maybe that will be down the line.

With Ethan Carter getting a big win over Mike Bennett at the PPV, he’s poised to take back his TNA title. EC3 and Bobby Lashley have had two stare downs this year but there’s been no contact between the men since they switched allegiances early this year.

That is a big money feud that they won’t jump into immediately. They’ll want to continue to build Lashley as the indomitable force before EC3 tries to win his title back from him. That could be a great feud.

5) Are the Tribunal going to move on from Grado and Shera?

The Tribunal (Basile Baraka and Baron Dax) defeated Grado and Mahabali Shera in their first match at Slammiversary, which was their debut match. They worked together like a good heel tag team and they could help bolster the very thin tag division.

We’ll find out tonight whether they are done with Grado & Shera and move onto another feud or if this isn’t done yet.
