This week’s episode of SmackDown inspired an uncharacteristically negative review from our typically positive lead blue brand writer, Tonya Rodgers. It turns out, she's not the only one disillusioned with the product of late.
Indeed, the show drew just 1.99 million viewers this week.
That’s the lowest number it’s garnered since the move to the USA Network back in January, as viewership has gradually declined from a high of 2.75 million viewers all the way down to under two.
The hope within WWE and the USA Network is a move to a live show on Tuesday nights will revitalize ratings, and a brand split is coming to create an in-house competition to assist with that. As we’ve seen in the past, however, that certainly doesn’t guarantee success.
We’ll see if they can turn it around.
