As my man Bill Hanstock told you the other day, Ring of Honor (ROH) World champ Jay Lethal got the nod to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at this weekend's Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins series.
Lethal is in town ahead of Sunday, May 8's Global Wars pay-per-view (PPV), where he'll defend the belt he's held for nearly a year against Chicago's own Colt Cabana.
The greatest first generation wrestler admitted to nerves about joining the list of celebrities who've botched the first pitch, saying he's "not in themarket of doing bad things", and, well, sorry champ. Actually, bouncing it in there isn't that bad... and it's not like pro wrestling calls on you to routinely throw small objects 60' 6"... it's a whole different set of muscles and stuff, probably.
There is one thing Lethal can do as well or better than anyone, and that impersonate Randy Savage. White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier made the mistake of stepping to Black Machismo:
The White Sox won the game in convincing fashion, 10 - 4, to become only the second team in Major League Baseball to reach twenty wins so far in the 2016 season. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing, for Jay, since he's from New Jersey and Boom-Boom is a Second City icon.
But, there was a bench clearing brawl - so ROH and pro wrestling fever was alive and well on the South Side last night!
