Canadian Mauro Ranallo was just fulfilling his native duty to discuss hockey at every opportunity when he reached out to fellow WWE announcer Corey Graves on the occasion of his hometown club reaching the Stanley Cup Finals:
Cheers! @WWEGraves & @KevinI #MarchOfThePenguins #NoRinkRust
— Mauro Ranallo (@mauroranallo) May 27, 2016
Graves apparently called the Pittsburgh Penguins' victory, so he responded by touting his prognostication skills... and suggest a day of the week when Mauro could learn all about them:
One of these days Mauro, you'll realize that I'm a genius....How does Tuesday sound? https://t.co/HVQDT1WTEv
— Corey Graves (@WWEGraves) May 27, 2016
The day Corey picked just happened to be Tuesday, where SmackDown will move for live broadcasts starting on July 19. Anyone who watches NXT knows that the former tag champ for that brand has become one of the business' best color commentators, so the prospect of seeing him paired with Ranallo, himself a breath of fresh air as a play-by-play voice in WWE, got people really, really excited.
Alas, the Savior of Misbehavior says he was just having a bit of fun:
Man, I wish EVERY time I told a joke Twitter got all excited like that.
— Corey Graves (@WWEGraves) May 27, 2016
But he could have been joking and still subtly lobbying for the gig, right?
As much as I'd miss him on Wednesdays (and he could do both, conceivably, since NXT tapes in chunks, usually on Thursdays), let's make this happen, WWE!
Who's with me?
