Nia Jax earns the right to face Asuka for the Women's title at NXT TakeOver: The End...

WWE Network

It was a busy night for NXT, and it needed to be with only one before show between now and the newly dubbed TakeOver: The End... on June 8.

The only championship not already on the card was the Women's belt, and tonight's episode addressed that early and finalized the match-up later.

With Bayley on the shelf after her kayfabe injury suffered on May 18, Nia Jax, Carmella and Alexa Bliss all had a case for being #1 contender material. So General Manager William Regal made a Triple Threat main event to settle the debate. In that match, the Princess of Staten Island had a good showing in her bid to solidy her status as a top babyface and potential successor to bestie Bayley (who walked her to the curtain from the locker room), but she didn't have quite enough to withstand Jax.

NXT has spent the last month rebuilding Nia from her last championship opportunity, when the Hugster submitted her in London. She seems formidible enough, having avenged the loss to Bayley last week and taking out the only other established women on the roster in the May 25 show.

The champ wasn't intimidated, however, as Asuka wasn't content to do the staredown from the stage to close the show, but licked her lips and marched to the ring for a face-to-face.

Who will end up holding the gold after the next live show at Full Sail?
