It's the first episode from the May 19 Full Sail taping (spoilers for which are here) which will put the finishing touches on June's TakeOver. Here's what to expect from the show.
The Headliner
Potassium isn't the only thing Austin Aries is focused on... he's also interested in Alexa Bliss' whereabouts.
But maybe now that he and Shinsuke Nakamura's win over the unit previously known as BAMF (along with Wesley Blake's reported injury) has separated Bliss, Blake & Murphy, maybe Aries can focus on what he told General Manager William Regal he came to NXT to do.
Make a statement. Prove he's the best. That while there are other Superstars at Full Sail on an 'A' level, but he's the only one on an 'A-Double' level.
To do that, he'll need an opponent for June 8. Maybe Regal will hook him up with that tonight? Will the Greatest Man That Ever Lived continue to show signs of a heel turn - like when he was upset Nakamura didn't let him finish Blake & Murphy? Could those two questions be related?
The Title Scene
The NXT title match was the first thing set for the next live special, and the latest chapter in the war between Finn Bálor and champion Samoa Joe will be the first steel cage match in the brand's history.
While their feud hasn't been nearly as long, tag champs American Alpha & The Revival have quite a rivalry going. They haven't interacted much (on television, anyway) since Dallas, but they'll get it on one more time at the next TakeOver.
Only one division where there's still suspense, but there's nearly enough intrigue to go around in the quest to challenge Asuka for her Women's belt. What seemed like a de facto #1 contender bout last week saw Nia Jax get her hand raised in victory, and Bayley helped to the back by trainers. The Hugster said she was looking to use her rematch clause, even as she hesitated to do so. Did Jax's win, or Bayley's bum knee, settle the issue?
Other stuff to keep an eye on:
- Thanks to some Facebook Live video, we know the former TMDK will debut either this week or next. Still not ready to call them by their new name, though.
- Looking good on their way to the Cruiserweight Classic, Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano still need a storyline to go along with their new fangled WWE.com profile pages.
- He loves dancing, and baseball, and fighting. Most fans seem to like him a lot. What's next for No Way Jose?
- Something-something debut new females blahblahblah.
